Monica Berti, L'Egitto nella commedia greca, in «Aegyptus» 82, 1-2, 2002 , pp. 93-112 (La visione dell'«altro» nell'antico Egitto. Atti dell'VIII Convegno Nazionale di Egittologia e Papirologia - Torino, 11-13 aprile 2003).

This paper is the result of a survey of the evidences of Greek comedy pertaining to Egypt: the research has revealed some themes regarding the land of the Nile, which constitute the subject and the title of some comedies and satyr dramas, and has showed the use in Greek comedies of a vocabulary allusive to Egypt in order to make audience laugh. The sources have been organized according to three differents themes: Danaids' myth, Elena's myth and Busiris. Moreover, the analysis has considered terms, expressions and allusions of Greek comedies to Egypt and to the relations between this land and Greece. The paper has been presented at the VIII National Congress of Egyptology and Papyrology, held in Turin from 11 to 13 April, 2003.
