This paper comments five fragments of Istros coming from two works regarding Egypt: the colonies of the Egyptians or of Egypt ( Apoikiai Aigyption or Apoikiai tes Aigyptou) and a work on the town of Ptolemais ( Peri Ptolemaidos). The paper has been presented at the II International Workshop Tradizione e trasmissione degli Storici Greci Frammentari, held at the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 16 to 18 February 2006.
